The C*Base NITTY GRITTY: These posts were saved to the system in "chunks" of five. (This saved some space on the drives of the BBS.) I have divided each "chunk" with a line showing the "post numbers" for the following "chunk". Within the C*Base software, there was code to embed "header" information into a graphically pleasing layout, which is nearly impossible for me to reproduce. Therefore, the information is simply presented in it's "raw" format, as follows: ------------------ dividing ----- line ---------------- "SUBJECT" (USER NUMBER) (USER's NAME/Nickname) (DATE the post was made) ("Location" of the user) (TIME the post was made) (TEXT of the user's post.......) .... .... ------------------ dividing ----- line ---------------- (followed by next post) Now, on with the messages. At the bottm is a LINK to take you to the next "sub-board". There are a total of 15.

APPARENTLY the 89-90 vintage ones‚ being old n tired‚ need fresh air even tho the guts are coolto the touch. opening the one here‚ none of the 2 big nor 2 smallchips were warm but with cool air blowing into the part-open lid seems to make it happier....plus the commie itself likes the additional air being blown in. HOWEVER... cannot SAVE to disc! (it will claim it SAVED but neihter drive activates) ASO...with Dos Disc pluggerd in‚ and loaded‚ how does one access the rom basic? I tried Basic Basica GWBasic ABasic and various cuss words...but cannot get at that basic‚ from the command line the system in question 43 Dreis 8/18/94 in the can 11:58 pm the system wyreball is refering to is an origional IBM PC/XT with two FULL height 5 1/4 drives‚ loaded w/ram to the limit (640 K) and a CGA card‚two serial ports‚ and 8087 co processor. ALL ORIGIONAL IBM!!! Anyways‚ the question is whether or not that rom basic can support a disk drive...the answer is no‚ that chip only knows how to address a dumb tape drive‚ as that is how the base system was set up back then. When you install a controler for the disk drives‚ it supplants the rom basic with the command com off the disk‚ which is usualy dos‚ though it could be UNIX ofr pascal. the trick would be to find the chip's address‚ and then vector the eop pointer to a slice of memory which has the disk routines...too much ML for me.
