The C*Base NITTY GRITTY:

These posts were saved to the system in "chunks" of five. (This saved
some space on the drives of the BBS.) I have divided each "chunk"
with a line showing the "post numbers" for the following "chunk".

Within the C*Base software, there was code to embed "header"
information into a graphically pleasing layout, which is nearly
impossible for me to reproduce. Therefore, the information is
simply presented in it's "raw" format, as follows:

------------------ dividing ----- line ----------------

"SUBJECT"
(USER NUMBER)
(USER's NAME/Nickname)
(DATE the post was made)
("Location" of the user)
(TIME the post was made)
(TEXT of the user's post.......)
  ....
  ....

------------------ dividing ----- line ---------------- (followed by next post)

Now, on with the messages. At the bottm is a LINK to take you
to the next "sub-board". There are a total of 15.

I'll use the 3.58/20 thing‚ because it

just use a regular bipolar transistor

final. It was one of those "huge"
transistors from the class A audio
output of a boat-anchor car radio.

It pumped about 3 or 4 watts at
1160Khz‚ so I suppose a TIP3055 or
something similar should do A-OK with
179 Khz‚ right? :)

               Willie...

yes n no
 7
WyreBall

At LESSA's!
10:27 am
Youll get yer 3-4 watts (at very low
eff...need .7-1.3 watt drive‚ due to
Ft ratings) ... but TTL can only give
500 uA  current per gate.

Youd need to hex-up 6 gates to get
only 3 ma! (74LS04)

IRF511 will work x nice with such a
drive...but a TIP3055....to get the
neeeded 400ma collector current will
need ...

  collector/hfe= base current

(and thats at 1/10 th the freq of Ft)

Ft is equal (enuff) to where Hfe = 1
At 1/10 th Freq of Ft‚ you get Hfe៞
At 1/100th freq..you get 100--OR what
ever max Hfe is for that transitor.

IRF511 will work at least up to 30mc

Its input uuf ( about 600pf)
determines how much drive you need‚
sence a cap shunt to gnd acts like a
freq sensitive resistor to gnd...
higher freqs see less ohms!...need
more drive (watts)

HOWEVER...IRF will beat a TIP 3055 as
far as drive needs...needs a lot less

Exception... if you use a 7406 and use
its collectors (7 ma each!) in tandem
to run to †2.5vdc via a resistor (so a
dead short wont pass more than 40ma)
you can then drive the base.

BE SURE that if you have no didgital
signal‚ that the base sees 0volts!

Else ‚ if signal stops for any reason‚
transistor will say:

WHEEE! I am a super conductor!
